Level 2 (One Day + Home Study) First Aid Course

HLTFA301B – Apply First Aid – One Day

This course will provide the participant with the skills and knowledge required to provide first aid response, life support, management of casualty(s), the incident and other first aiders until the arrival of medical or other assistance.

To attend the one day session it is required that our workbook is read and all revision sections are completed. The trainer will check the workbook and if it has not been completed then you will not be able to attend the course session.

  • Assessing the casualty’s signs of life
  • Chain of survival
  • Performing CPR
  • Use of an automated external defibrillator (AED)
  • Care of the unconscious casualty
  • Infection control
  • Government legislation
  • Stress management
  • Reporting procedures
  • Asthma, Choking, Heart attack, Stroke, Bleeding
  • Shock, Severe allergic reaction, Eye and ear injuries & Burns
  • Extremes of Heat and Cold
  • Poisoning, Bites and Stings
  • Musculoskeletal injuries
  • Altered conscious states
  • Lifting techniques, Bandaging procedures.

Assessment Method

Demonstration of practical skills, verbal questioning, role play/scenario work, summary evaluation questions and multiple choice questionnaire.

Certificate

A Statement of Attainment will be issued upon successful completion of the course.
