HLTAID012 – Provide First Aid in an Education and Care Setting
This course will provide the participant with the skills and knowledge required to provide a first aid response to infants, children and adults. The course applies to educators and support staff working within an education and care setting who are required to respond to a first aid emergency, including asthmatic and anaphylactic emergencies.
First Aid for Teachers & Carers Course Mode & Duration (Updated!)
Option #1: Traditional Face-to-Face
Our traditional 9 hour face-to-face with study time (approx. 4-6 hours).
Revision questions required to be completed prior to attending the course. Trainer will check the workbook and if revision questions have not been completed then you will not be able to attend the course session. You will be able to book into another session at a later date.
Option #2: Online Theory & Practical Session (New!)
Work through the online theory component and assessment from your home or office at your own pace. And then bring your 'Certificate of Completion' with you to your Practical Session.
Once you make your booking, we will email you your logins to the online course area.
Course Content:
- How to respond to an emergency situation
- Apply appropriate emergency first aid procedures
- Communicate details of the incident
- Evaluate the incident and own performance
Assessment
- Demonstration of practical skills
- Role play/scenario work
- Written assessment
- It is a requirement that learners must demonstrate performing CPR on a mannequin placed on the floor
Certificate
A Statement of Attainment HLTAID012 Provide First Aid in an Education and Care Setting will be issued by First Aid Management & Training Centre upon successful completion of the course. The HLTAID012 is valid for 3 years and the CPR component should be updated annually.

First Aid Management & Training Centre’s trainers deliver this course. They are all qualified with Certificate IV in Training and Assessment and have relevant industry experience.
